1KOMMA5° and Qvantum partner to enable connected home energy systems in Sweden

  • Qvantum’s advanced heat pumps become part of 1KOMMA5°s energy platform Heartbeat AI
  • Homeowners benefit from intelligent, connected heating that actively responds to market signal, grid tariffs, and local renewable production, leading to significantly lower electricity prices
  • Today, 60% of residential homes in Sweden already use heat pumps; connected heating is a key enabler for both cost savings and grid stability
  • The collaboration prepares homes to fully participate in New Energy, enabling holistic optimization across heating, solar power, battery storage, and EV charging, preparing homes for the future energy landscape

1KOMMA5°, the Swedish energy company and part of the German 1KOMMA5° group, and Qvantum, the Swedish manufacturer of next-generation heat pumps, today announced a partnership to lower households’ energy and accelerate the transition to intelligent, fully connected residential energy systems in Sweden.

At the core of the collaboration is Heartbeat AI, 1KOMMA5°’s energy automation layer and intelligent optimization platform, which connects and orchestrates distributed energy assets across the home in the rhythm with wind and sun. Through the partnership, for the first time, Qvantum’s smart heat pumps will be connected to Heartbeat AI, allowing heating to become an active component of the home’s total energy system rather than a standalone device. By combining Qvantum’s advanced heat pump technology with 1KOMMA5°’s AI-driven optimization, heating can dynamically adapt to electricity prices, grid signals, and local renewable energy production, setting a new standard for how homes produce, consume, and optimize energy.

The initial focus of the collaboration is Sweden, where approximately 60% of residential homes already use heat pumps, making the country one of Europe’s most advanced markets for electrified heating.

– Heat pumps will play an increasingly central role in the future energy system, not just as sources of heat, but as flexible assets that can support the electricity grid, says David SättermanCEO of 1KOMMA5° Sweden and Denmark. This partnership allows us to connect all kinds of heat pumps into our virtual power plant – lowering energy costs for homeowners and taking pressure off the grid.

– Future energy systems require connected, intelligent solutions, says Fredrik Rosenqvist, CEO of Qvantum. With the partnership together with 1KOMMA5° we ensure that heating can interact seamlessly with solar power, batteries, EV charging, and the electricity grid. This gives homeowners a system that is ready for tomorrow’s energy landscape.

For homeowners, this means heating that is not only fossil-free, but also future-ready. When in combination with Heartbeat AI, Qvantum heat pumps can be coordinated with rooftop solar, battery storage, and EV chargers, ensuring energy is used when it is cheapest, cleanest, and most abundant. As energy markets become more dynamic and grid constraints increase, connected heating becomes a key enabler for both cost savings and grid stability.

The partnership also expands 1KOMMA5°’s heat pump offering in Sweden. Through Qvantum’s portfolio of air-to-water, exhaust air, and ground source heat pumps, 1KOMMA5° can now offer a complete range of heating solutions connected with Heartbeat AI.

About Heartbeat AI

With Heartbeat AI, households become part of 1KOMMA5°’s virtual power plant, which connects customers to the electricity market and controls electricity generation and consumption in sync with wind and solar power. The artificial intelligence connects the steerable devices such as heat pumps, solar, and energy storage systems into an integrated overall system and controls a household’s energy supply fully automatically. This allows households to benefit directly from the volatility of renewables, while also lowering grid costs with dynamic peakshaving.. Heartbeat AI also increases the cost-effectiveness and lifespan of the connected systems.
