For 30 years, Bal Padda has seen the change in the way houses in the UK are heated. The pace of that change keeps getting higher. Now he is the new sales manager for Qvantum in the UK.
“For the first time, I see a company and products created for our time,” he says.
Bal Padda has worked in sales of heating products for major manufacturers for many years. As legislation has changed, he has gone from selling stand-alone products to working primarily with ambient loop systems.
“In London, having your heating system connected to a network is mandatory, which has led to very rapid technology development here.”
When he first saw Qvantum’s products, he was impressed and envious.
“In my previous position, I always saw things that could be improved as a product specialist but in such a large organisation, it was tough to get that implemented. With Qvantum, it was tremendous: all the things I had been proposing were already there.“
“The apartment heat pump was mind-blowing and made me wonder why nobody else had yet proposed launching such a complete system.”
When he was offered the job of managing sales for Qvantum in the UK, he accepted without hesitation.
“A new and young company that has a level of energy and nothing-is-impossible attitude that is so refreshing after many years in more traditional corporations.”
Qvantum struck Bal as the first company in the industry to acknowledge that we require a new encompassing approach to our cities, rather than looking at standalone buildings
“It’s no longer about boxes with limited functions. It is about creating more financially and environmentally beneficial heating solutions that such products can be a part of. The software, design tools and a creative mindset are just as important as the hardware.”
At Qvantum, he also found a very holistic approach on all company levels.
“Everybody sees their work as a means of achieving something greater. People are not working in silos, and the team effort is real. Together, we will change the way the cities of Europe are heated.”
Being a Swedish company, Qvantum also brings a lot of experience to the table.
“In the UK, we are ahead of continental Europe in terms of using heating technology. However, development expertise in Sweden is world-class. They have basically not sold any fossil heating there at all for the last 20 years and have reduced the CO2 emissions from heating by 95%. They make air-source heat pumps that are regularly used in arctic temperatures. It is very impressive to speak to their developers, and hear about what extremes they design for.”
The most important part of introducing Qvantum in the UK is about creating confidence says technical sales director Darren Manley:
”We want to work with our customers on several different levels. We want to bond with installers and consultants, and prove that we are there for them, and that our goal is not just to get an order.
It is also about being able to proudly stand beside the client at the end for them to say: ”Hey looking at the solution we’ve created, I’ve got another project I would like for you to look at.”
